This is my favorite image I made in 2008. I'm posting it today because I discovered that I never posted it last year and as I continue to work on The 50 States Project first assignment which is capturing people that represent the state I am drawn back to this image over and over again. His expression as he looks out the window and his gesture while holding back the shade leave me feeling empty, alone and longing for some other life. I can't help but be drawn in and want to know more about him and what exactly he's looking at through the window and why he doesn't get up, go outside and discover for himself. Often, I meet people who have lived in Montana their entire lives and never traveled out of the state. Exploration is important. I think you need perspective to fully appreciate your own life...
...I have spent the past two days trying to rebuild my external drive after it failed for some reason. Why it failed I will never know. I only know that backing up the back up is wise and as more than one friend as said: "Don't be cheap with your drives, you get what you pay for." I feel like I dodged a bullet. Phew...
